A Beach House Decor Inspired a San Francisco Condo I Décor Aid

A Beach House Decor Inspired a San Francisco Condo

When a newlywed couple moved into their first proper San Francisco apartment, they reached out to Decor Aid, asking for assistance in transforming their newly purchased home into a relaxing sanctuary from city life. From the get-go, our client knew that they wanted to transform their Mission District apartment into a beach themed-inspired oasis. A Summer beach house decor was the inspiration for this space: mature, oceanic, modern and luxurious.

Upon arriving at this Mission District condo, we realized that none of the current decor reflected anything that our clients desired. Dark, angular leather pieces were sparsely placed throughout the living room. The effect was chilling, spare and devoid of color.

One of the first pieces that we sourced for the space was a large photograph from Gray Malin, which we placed in the bedroom. The photograph’s palette—tranquil blues and modern beiges—served as our inspiration for the rest of the beach house decor apartment.

Before

After

For the common spaces within the apartment, we created a compelling combination of neutral colors by sourcing neutral textiles and wood pieces. We also created a home office space which can be easily converted into a nursery, for when the time comes.

Before/After

By incorporating blue accent pieces throughout the space —such as a balloon dog miniature and complimenting pillows—we were able to give the space a cohesive beach house decor look and feel. Highly polished chrome pieces in the bedroom give the space a high-shine look and feel, to create a relaxing, mature beach-inspired oasis.
